The SKF SNL3038 is a cast iron split plummer block housing designed to support compatible spherical roller bearings and CARB toroidal roller bearings. Part of SKF’s SNL 30, 31 and 32 series, it provides a rigid bearing support for industrial machinery, while its removable housing cap simplifies bearing installation, inspection and maintenance.
The housing accommodates bearings with a 290 mm outside diameter and features a 115 mm bearing seat width and a 180 mm centre height. Its four-bolt base provides secure mounting, with elongated attachment holes allowing adjustment during installation.
When used with the bearing and adapter sleeve combinations listed below, the SNL3038 is suitable for a 170 mm shaft. Locating rings secure the bearing outer ring within the housing where axial location is required.
Designed for grease lubrication, the housing can be configured for through-shaft or shaft-end installations. Separate labyrinth and heavy-duty taconite seals allow the sealing arrangement to be selected for the operating environment.

The locating ring quantities shown are totals per housing for an axially located outer ring. Non-locating spherical roller bearing arrangements normally require axial freedom in the housing. CARB bearings accommodate axial displacement internally and require the outer ring to be located.
